摘要: Background A virtual reality neurosurgery simulator with haptic feedback may help in the training and assessment of technical skills requiring use tactile visual cues. Objective To develop a for craniotomy-based procedures graphics implementation by universities hospitals curriculum. Methods NeuroTouch was developed team more than 50 experts from National Research Council Canada collaboration surgeons 20 teaching across Canada. Its main components are stereovision system, bimanual tool manipulators, high-end computer. The simulation software engine runs 3 processes computing graphics, haptics, mechanics. Training tasks were built magnetic resonance imaging scans patients brain tumors. Results Two implemented practicing different surgical tools. In tumor-debulking task, objective is complete tumor removal without removing normal tissue, using regular aspirator (suction) ultrasonic aspirator. cauterization task to remove vascularized an while controlling blood loss bipolar electrocautery. Conclusion prototypes have been set up 7 Canada, be used beta testing validation evaluated integration
