摘要: Summary: Whipple's disease involving the pericardium: Pathological confirmation during life. R. E. Vlietstra, J. T. Lie, W. Kuhl, G. K. Danielson and M. Roberts, Aust. N.Z. Med., 1978, 8, pp. 649–651. Cardiac involvement in has been a frequent autopsy finding but is rarely recognized clinically. We report here patient, 63-year-old man, whom was diagnosed 1974, based on seven-year history of arthralgia, one-year weight loss steatorrhea, diagnostic small bowel biopsy. Despite complete regression all joint symptoms following prolonged course tetracycline therapy, patient developed incapacitating congestive heart failure signs constrictive pericarditis, for which thoracotomy pericardectomy performed. Histologic examination revealed fibrous pericarditis with mononuclear infiltrates, including PAS-positive histiocytes. The characteristic bacilliform bodies were identified by electron microscopy resected pericardium. This to our knowledge first such demonstration life heart.
