摘要: Introduction: Decreased expression of syndecan-1 has been reported in dysplasia and squamous cell carcinoma (SCCA) the oral cavity appears to correlate with decreasing histological differentiation poor clinical outcome. Assays date have utilized manual microscopic analysis qualitative grading immunohistochemical staining intensity, which may introduce observer bias. We evaluated cavity, using a novel automated cellular imaging system that incorporates both intensity as well percentage positively stained cells yield quantitative value for expression. Materials Methods: performed an image system. analyzed specimens from cases mild (N = 55), moderate 38), severe 25), situ (CIS) 43), SCCA 45), normal mucosal epithelium 21) positive control. The were further subdivided by degree differentiation. retrospectively reviewed patient charts identify tumor stage at diagnosis, recurrence, disease-specific survival. Results: Syndecan-1 was significantly greater controls than mild, moderate, or dysplasia, CIS, invasive (P < .05). did not differ among CIS SCCA. There no significant difference between patients evidence disease 3 years follow-up local, regional, distant recurrence. Conclusions: does appear be useful marker prognostic indicator cavity. search suitable reliable biological aggressiveness is ongoing.
