摘要: Abstract This study examines the activity budgets and social behaviours initiated received by 69 focal dogs in an off-leash dog park for 400 s after entry, a time of high about which little is known. Using motivationally-neutral labels behaviour categories, we describe frequency behaviours, correlations among them. We then examine these relationships context proposed functions some dogs, terms information gathering communication, including visual tactile signalling. Time spent with other decreased rapidly over visit, much this early interaction involved greeting newcomer. Snout-muzzle contact were ubiquitous, while rarely observed, aggressive behaviours. Correlations certain non-contact are consistent their function as signals that may influence continuation form interactions, possible role mimicry (i.e., play bow pull-rear away). Age, sex, number present influenced specific aspects dogs’ budgets, few ethological provides fundamental data on parks, surprisingly has been published.
