摘要: Abstract Diethyl vinyl phosphonate has been free-radically copolymerized with styrene, methyl methacrylate, acrylonitrile and acrylamide to give copolymers containing roughly equal amounts of covalently bound phosphorus. The flammabilities these have assessed, principally by measurements limiting oxygen index, compared those the corresponding homopolymers: polystyrene, poly(methyl methacrylate), polyacrylonitrile polyacrylamide. It found that all are more flame retardant than homopolymers, especially copolymer which appears display considerable nitrogen-phosphorus synergism.
