摘要: The incidence of complications from prosthetic joint infection (PJI) is increasing, and treatment failure remains high. We review the current literature with a focus on Staphylococcus aureus pathogenesis biofilm, as well challenges, novel therapeutic strategies. S. biofilm creates favorable environment that increases antibiotic resistance, impairs host immunity, tolerance to nutritional deprivation. Secreted proteins bacterial cells within quorum-sensing agr system contribute immune evasion. Additional immunoevasive properties include formation staphylococcal abscess communities (SACs) canalicular invasion. Novel approaches target increase resistance implant colonization therapy, immunotherapy, local treatments. Challenges remain given diverse mechanisms developed by alter responses. Further understanding these processes should provide enhance eradication after PJI.
