摘要: Study of patients hospitalized at the Baltimore Cancer Research Center with acute leukemia or advanced lymphoma showed that Pseudomonas aeruginosa was acquired frequently in hospital, especially by nonlymphocytic (ANLL). Colonized ANLL prolonged granulocytopenia nearly always became infected and generally bacteremic rapidly; these infections were major cause septicemia this center. Other species colonized but rarely invaded even profoundly granulocytopenic patient. Empiric treatment carbenicillin gentamicin cured more than half febrile cancer, all survived least four to seven days unless persisted. Systemic oral apparently associated development carbenicillinand/or gentamicin-resistant strains P. aeruginosa. A combination reverse isolation laminar air flow rooms plus nonabsorbable antibiotics a prospective randomized trial reduced markedly rates acquisition organism ANLL.
