Relationship between chewing features and body mass index in young adolescents.

摘要: Background Behavioural aspects of chewing may influence food intake, nutritional status and in turn body weight. Objectives The current study aimed to features adolescents as they naturally occur home-based settings, test for a possible association with weight status. Methods Forty-two (15.3 ± 1.3 years) were recruited (21 healthy-weight/21 overweight). Using smartphone-assisted wearable electromyographic device, the each participant assessed over one evening, including evening meal, their natural home setting. Results mean (±SD) pace was 1.53 0.22 Hz, power 30.1% 4.8%, number episodes 63.1 36.7 time 11.0 7.7 minutes. group overweight slower than that healthy (-0.20 Hz; 95% CI, -0.06 -0.33; P = .005) while shorter (-4.9 minutes; 0.2-9.7; .044). A significant negative correlation observed between BMI z-score (R -.41; .007), -0.32; .039). Conclusion suggests who are eat at period counterparts This unexpected finding based on objective data appears conflict existing questionnaire findings but provides impetus further work testing effectiveness changing eating behaviour weight-management intervention youth.
