摘要: In domestic dogs Canis familiaris, vocal traits have been investigated for barks and growls, the relationship between individual body size with less corresponding information whines. this study, we examined frequency temporal of whines 20 adult companion (9 males, 11 females), ranging in mass from 3.5 to 70.0 kg belonging 16 breeds. Dog (26-71 per individual, 824 total) were recorded conditioned begging contexts modeled by dog owners. Whines had 3 independent fundamental frequencies: low, high ultra-high that occurred singly as monophonic calls or simultaneously 2-voice biphonic 3-voice polyphonic calls. From smallest largest dog, upper limit varied 0.24 2.13 kHz low frequency, 2.95 10.46 kHz 9.99 23.26 kHz frequency. Within individuals, was lower than whines, whereas did not differ those whine types. All variables high, frequencies correlated negatively mass. For duration, no correlation found. We discuss potential production mechanisms sound sources each frequency; point acoustic similarity high-frequency rodent ultrasonic hypothesize function allow private, "tete-a-tete" communication members social groups.
