摘要: Depression is common in rheumatoid arthritis (RA), however reported prevalence varies considerably. Two frequently used instruments to identify depression are the Center for Epidemiological Studies (CES-D) scale, and Hospital Anxiety Scale (HADS). The objectives of this study were test if CES-D HADS-D (a) satisfy current modern psychometric standards unidimensional measurement an early RA sample; (b) measure same construct (i.e. depression); (c) similar levels depression. Data from two scales completed by patients with fitted Rasch model show that each scale satisfies criteria fit model, including strict unidimensionality; can be co-calibrated onto a single underlying continuum examine location cut points on as indication Ninety-two (62% female; mean age = 56.3, SD 13.7) gave 141 sets paired HAD-D data. Fit data was found poor, had reduced 13 items whereas met expectations outset. 20 combined (CES-D13 HADS-D) satisfied expectations. much higher than HADS-D. its present form unsuitable use RA, needs 13-item scale. valid but their lead different estimates level Revised CES-D13 provide comparative rates.
