Histopathological patterns of testicular biopsy in male infertility: A retrospective study from a tertiary care center in the western part of Saudi Arabia

摘要: Objective: To identify and categorize various pathological changes seen in testicular biopsies of males with infertility to compare the results data from other local international studies. Materials Methods: All received by Pathology Department King AbdulAziz University Hospital, Jeddah, period January 2004 until May 2010 are reviewed histopathologically classified into seven categories as follows : Normal spermatogenesis, hypospermatogenesis, germ cell maturation arrest (GCMA), Sertoli only syndrome, seminiferous tubule hyalinization, mixed discordant patterns. Results: One hundred were identified computerized records Hospital studied period. The age ranged 22 70 years a mean 24.5 years. histopathological patterns follows: 14 (14%) cases reported normal spermatogenesis;(29, 29%) hypospermatogesis; 12 (12%) GCMA, mostly at level primary spermatocytes. syndrome hyalinization each 16 (16%). Nine (9%) showed pattern. Discordant pattern was 5 (5%) cases. Conclusion: Our study that hypospermatogenesis is commonest taken our region. This supports recommendation bilateral when investigating male infertility.
