摘要: Hypothesis Adhesive capsulitis is a condition that results in restricted glenohumeral motion. Fibroblasts have been implicated the disease process; however, their role as contractile element development of fibrosis and capsular contracture not well understood. We hypothesized (1) myofibroblast prevalence biopsy specimens from patients with adhesive would be increased compared controls (2) treated an intra-articular injection corticosteroid fewer myofibroblasts. Methods The study prospectively enrolled 20 consecutive scheduled for release matched controls. Tissue samples were collected posterior anterior capsule histomorphologic immunohistologic analyses. Identical sectioning preparation was performed 14 additional who had received injections. Results Patients preoperative demonstrated more histologic evidence fibromatosis, synovial hyperplasia, increase positive staining α-smooth muscle actin than injections steroid. No obtained control actin. Discussion There higher capsulitis, implicating activation pathophysiology contracture. Intra-articular steroid decreases presence amount vascular fibrosis, fibroblasts This supports use to alter process by decreasing pathologic changes found tissue.
