摘要: A 53-year-old man with no past medical history was admitted complaints of hematuria, flank and abdominal pain one week duration. He also complained an enlarging new neck mass month before presentation. The laboratory assessment showed a calcium level 17.3 mg/dL (normal 8.5-10.5 mg/dL), serum albumin 2.9 g/dL 3.0-5.0 g/dL), creatinine 3.4 0.5-1.2 mg/dL). ultrasound complicated left mass. hydrated for improvement in his labs, showing decrease to 9.3 1.8 mg/dL. underwent total thyroidectomy parathyroidectomy. pathology multiglandular parathyroid carcinoma. It is important the physician surgeon dealing primary hyperparathyroidism look better knowledge understanding this condition would aid early diagnosis possibly increase survival rate.
