摘要: Background Allergic rhinitis (AR) related to local weeds pollen sensitization (Chenopodiaceous family) is the most common cause of respiratory allergy in Kuwait. Local nasal accumulation different cells typical allergic inflammation responsible for clinical symptoms AR. Although smear Eosinophils (NSE) one earliest included valuable test diagnosis AR, with time underestimated. Aim Explore possible correlation natural allergen stimulation appearance and quantity smear. Methods A group randomly selected patients history suggestive seasonal AR (SAR), who came Al Rashed Allergy Center period from October 2014 2015, obtain Nasal Smear as a screening before further diagnostic evaluation. samples were collected by passing sterile swab, each cavity, along medial surface inferior turbinate 2 3 times specimen smeared on clear glass slide. smears examined light microscopy after staining hematoxylin eosin stain. Skin prick performed all symptomatic battery inhalant allergens that include pollens. The control was recruited, their voluntary consent, medical stuff negative any symptoms. In this we only Eosinophils. Air Biology Laboratory Kuwait provided us daily count. Results From total 158 study participants, 132 had SAR are divided four groups. Fifth, control, non symptomatic. For 38.6% NSE positive, while 45% these have SPT. 62.1% patients, 37.8% Our results showed expected positive season Kuwait, SPT group. However, presence moderate high also during highest peak season, contrast Conclusion NES sensitivity, relatively specificity importance patients. Evaluation demand wide improved approach due significant number based stimulation. emphasize locale response mucosa target organ approach.
