摘要: Abstract Nothobranchius furzeri is a promising model for ecotoxicological research due to the species’ short life cycle and production of drought-resistant eggs. Although species an emerging vertebrate fish several fundamental as well applied domains, its potential has not yet been tested. The aim this study was characterise acute chronic sensitivity copper compared other organisms. Effects both exposure were tested on survival, history physiological traits. We report 24 h-LC50 53.93 µg Cu/L, which situated within range such Brook Trout, Fathead Minnow Rainbow Trout. Moreover, in full exposure, we show that concentration 10.27 µg/L did cause adverse effects (96 h), but mortality after prolonged (3–4 weeks). Also chronic, sublethal observed, reduction growth rate, delayed maturation postponed reproduction. Based our results, define NOEC at 6.68 µg making N. more sensitive Trout Minnow. found stimulatory peak fecundity subinhibitory levels concentrations (hormesis). Finally, indications detoxifying copper-excreting mechanisms, demonstrating ability cope with essential metal, even when exposed stressful amounts. successful application current protocols comparable organisms forms basis exploit further practices.
