摘要: Cholesterol oxidation products, oxysterols, are thought to play a part in the initiation and development of human atherosclerotic lesions. Excessive body iron has been suggested promote atherosclerosis coronary heart disease through its pro-oxidative properties. In present study, associations between serum ferritin plasma oxysterol concentrations were examined 669 eastern Finnish men. Serum concentration had statistically significant (p < .05) direct correlations with most measured oxysterols. multivariate adjusted regression models, predicted significantly levels 27-hydroxycholesterol (beta = 0.13, p .001), 7α-hydroxycholesterol 0.11, .005), 25-hydroxycholesterol 0.10, .007), 7-ketocholesterol .009), 7β-hydroxycholesterol .02). conclusion, excess iron, as assessed by ferritin, is associated increased circulating both enzymatic nonenzymatic origin, man.
