摘要: Dendritic cells (DCs) are extremely heterogeneous, most evident in the skin where a variety of different subsets have been identified recent years. DCs healthy include number distinct populations dermal layer as well well-characterized Langerhans (LCs) epidermis. These steady-state augmented during bouts local inflammation by additional monocyte-derived DCs. In an effort to better understand distinction between subsets, we examined their behavior following infection with HSV. LC emigration rapidly followed appearance virus and resulted depopulation regions areas surrounding infected nerve endings. A separate DC population was found accumulate within dermis under patches active epidermal at least some derived from blood monocyte precursors. Ag-positive could occasionally be these accumulations, although they represented minority areas. addition, appeared compromised trafficking capabilities were largely absent migrating population. On resolution disease, LCs repopulated reformed epidermis mixed origin, around half entering circulation remainder progenitors. Overall, our results show range migrational complexities consequence localized infection.
