摘要: Microbeam radiation therapy (MRT), a novel form of spatially fractionated radiotherapy (RT), uses arrays synchrotron-generated X-ray microbeams (MB). MRT has been identified as promising treatment concept that might be applied to patients with malignant central nervous system (CNS) tumours for whom, at the current stage development, no satisfactory is available yet. Preclinical experimental studies have shown CNS healthy rodents and piglets can tolerate much higher doses delivered by separated MBs than those single, uninterrupted, macroscopically wide beam. High-dose, high-precision radiotherapies such reduced probabilities normal tissue complications offer prospects improved therapeutic ratios, extensively demonstrated results experiments published many international groups in last two decades. The significance developing new RT approach cannot understated. Up 50% cancer receive conventional RT, any provides better tumour control whilst preserving likely significantly improve patient outcomes.
