Grain refinement of Al–5%Cu aluminum alloy under mechanical vibration using meltable vibrating probe

摘要: Abstract A mechanical vibration technique to refine solidified microstructure was reported. Vibration energy directly introduced into a molten alloy by vibrating horn, and the horn melted during vibration. Effects of acceleration mass ratio on Al–5% Cu were investigated. Results show that present could provide localized cooling extracting heat from interior alloy, rate is strongly dependent acceleration. It difficult when treated keeps full liquid state within entire duration. Significantly refined obtained applying initial stage solidification. Moreover, mechanisms grain refinement discussed.
