摘要: Summary  We previously showed that neutrophils from patients with Candida-related denture stomatitis exhibited damaged function, and the advance in age intensified this condition. Because such alterations had been determined elderly people were not wearers, purpose of study was to clarify functional phenotypic characteristics wearers (EDW) young (YDW) without oral lesion. enrolled 20 (12 EDW 8 YDW) positivity Candida species on maxillary prosthesis palate. Additionally, blood salivary evaluated. Furthermore, cytokines chemokines levels detected. YDW presented higher albicans than ones. However, expressed less CXCR1, CD62L CD11b lower C. albicans phagocytosis YDW. Although myeloperoxidase elastase activity significantly C. albicans-stimulated elderly, they produced high IL-10 low Granulocyte macrophage-colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF). Despite apoptosis rate enhanced, these cells at a number GM-CSF IL10 saliva group. These data confirmed ageing affects could predispose persistent infections.
