摘要: Abstract Objectives Lung cancer is the most fatal in developed world due to presence of metastases at time diagnosis. The aim this study examine DNA hypermethylation sputum compared cytology for diagnosis lung cancer. A novel risk analysis introduced, using distinction between diagnostic and markers. Methods Two independent sets were randomly composed from a prospectively collected bank (Set 1: n =98 patients, =90 controls; Set 2: =60 =445 controls). Sputum was performed all samples. following markers tested both sets: RASSF1A , APC cytoglobin ( CYGB ). statistical analyses conducted: multivariate logistic regression classification model based on post-test probabilities. Results In analysis, best three discriminating cases controls (sensitivity 41–52%, specificity 94–96%). showed that 36% patients defined as "high risk" (≥60% chance cancer) 1. reproducible 2. Risk ) have less value. Sensitivity 22%. yielded sensitivity 45%. combined with cytological increased 52% similar (94%). Conclusion setting, possible when marker used. However, are insufficient purpose.
