摘要: Crystallization of protein subunits into a two-dimensional lattice is cooperative phenomenon, which means that large polymers are much more stable than small ones. The reason molecules in the interior have maximum number intersub-unit bonds, whereas those on edge exposed bond sites. Since ratio perimeter to internal surface decreases as array increases size energy per subunit.
