摘要: In two laboratory experiments we tested juvenile yellow perch, Perca flavescens, for behavioural responses to alarm cues of injured conspecifics and several prey guild members: adult Iowa darters, Etheostoma exile spottail shiners, Notropis hudsonius. Spottail shiners are phylogenetically distant perch whereas darters both members the Family Percidae. Groups increased shoal cohesion movement towards substrate after detecting conspecific when compared swordtails, Xiphophorus helleri, a species from perch. Individual shelter use froze more exposed chemical exposure swordtail or distilled water. The response may indicate that evolutionarily conserved within percid fishes had learned recognize darter cues. spot tail likely represents recognition member.
