摘要: This review attempts to recount, from my perspective, some of the science and technology highlights (and pitfalls) that fueled nanoscience nanotechnology revolution—an odyssey sort on nanoscale measurements manipulation. Seminal papers by several pioneering groups are given special attention as well role played AVS who hosted many earlier conferences published proceedings recorded field’s early progress. is organized around introduction evolution various scanning probe microscopes have revolutionized way we study structure properties surfaces. The use these enabling tools in pursuit more ambitious goals nanotechnology, such creating unique structures manipulating individual atoms or molecules, developing concepts electronics, information storage, sensor technology, nanotribology, nanomechanics, also discussed.
