摘要: : Glycolipids have been shown to be antigens for circulating antibodies in autoimmune processes affecting the nervous system like neuropathy associated with IgM paraproteinemia, Guillain Barre syndrome (GBS), multifocal neuropathy, and variants thereof. The antibody titers, Ig-classes, specificity vary between studies disease groups. immunogens are general unknown. However, GBS is often an infection Campylobacter jejuni, which expresses a lipopolysaccharide structure similar carbohydrate epitopes sialic acid containing glycolipids gangliosides thus potential primary antigen antiganglioside antibodies. antiglycolipid will most likely reflect epitopes, also determine target cell or tissue pathology. These factors might add inconsistent results obtained that led question: Are of any clinical significance?
