摘要: The objective of the presented, randomized study was to compare efficacy antimicrobial monotherapy with imipenem (3×0.5g/d) a combination therapy cefotaxime (3×2g/d) plus piperacillin (3×4g/d) for empirical treatment infections in neutropenic patients. In 165 patients, 237 infectious episodes were evaluable. overall response rate patients treated 67/115 (58%), those impienem 66/122 (54%). not responding initial regimen within 2 or 3 days, modified. After modification 85/100 cured. Fever unknown origin (FUO) showed most favourable course compared other infection types, 46/59 (78%) and 35/50 (70%) cases, respectively. comparison, pneumonias successfully only 3/21 (14%) 7/37 (19%) cases. Even including modified therapy, 66% (21/32) pneumonia responded. unfavourable results is mainly due high 13 systemic mycoses this group (22%). Overall, similar observed comparison imipenem. primary bacteremias however, an advantage (20/27; 74%) (11/23; 48%).
