摘要: The castor plant has been cultivated for thousands of years, providing a useful source medicine, lamp fuel, and lubricant long before petroleum came into wide use. oil content seed ranges from 45% to 60%, with most cultivars closer 50% content. presence the hydroxy fatty acid ricinoleate [(9Z, 12R)-12-hydroxyoctadec-9-enoate] in at level 90% imparts unique physical chemical properties that give value as feedstock. This midchain group results hydrogen bonding among triacylglycerols carry 2 or 3 ricinoleoyl chains. intermolecular interaction viscosity is significantly greater than other commodity oils, superior use lubricants greases. susceptibility hydroxyl substitution elimination provides range derivatives. separated by one methylene carbon–carbon double bond supports several cleavage reactions provide collection industrially chemicals. Products derived have centuries, “biobased” was buzzword requirement meeting sustainable product regulations.
