摘要: Abstract The minimal acute inflammatory response to tissue injury is one of the most dramatic differences between fetal and adult wound healing. Considering prominent role inflammation in repair, this study tested hypothesis that plays a central “scarless” repair process. Sponge implants were treated with lethally irradiated or live bacteria placed subcutaneously rabbits test ability fetus mount an bacterial antigens present at site analyze effects on fibroplasia neovascularization. After harvest, these examined histologically for inflammation, fibroblast infiltration, collagen deposition, neovascularization, deposition was measured using hydroxyproline quantitation by high-performance liquid chromatography. Bacteria-treated showed dose-dependent responses significant increases compared control sponges. Implants containing demonstrated maximal These findings suggest that, despite neutropenia immaturity immune system, capable mounting avirulent site. Fetal cells which respond stimulus appear initiating adult-like healing response. Thus, failing provide leukocyte recruitment injury, sterile environment appears play effecting
