摘要: Abstract Background . Attitudinal, mood, and personality variables have been identified as predictors of uptake routine screening for a variety cancers, including those the breast, cervix, colon. Little information exists, however, regarding characteristics participants in ovarian cancer (OC) screening. Method Asymptomatic women ( n = 312; mean age 57.45 years; range 26–80) were assessed immediately before undergoing an initial transvaginal sonography (TVS) test (OCS group). Their responses compared to identical obtained from age- education-matched group with no history OC (HC All respondents completed measures OC-related attitudes, knowledge, beliefs risk perceptions, dispositional (informational coping style optimism), psychological distress. Results Analyses revealed OCS was characterized not only by more OC-specific distress extensive family but also less optimism knowledge factors.
