Day Case Surgery Trends in England: The Influences of Target Setting and of General Practitioner Fundholding

摘要: Objectives:To describe the trends in proportion of elective surgery carried out as day cases, and impact setting targets introduction general practitioner (GP) fundholding on use surgery.Methods:Cross-sectional analysis Hospital Episode Statistics for England, 1990/1991 to 1994/1995, comparing procedures which were not set, types purchaser (GP fundholder health authority).Results:Elective surgical increased from 2.7 million 3.9 a 44% increase. Increased numbers cases (up 117%) accounted almost all total activity. The rose 35% 53% over period.
