摘要: The type I collagen molecule contains two α1(I) chains and one α2(I) chain. Previous investigations, using embryonic chick calvaria, have indicated that the are synthesized in a 2:1 ratio which is controlled at pretranslational level, since cells contain twice as much translatable proα1(I) mRNA proα2(I) mRNA. present report describes hybridization analyses of cellular levels total RNAs coding for chains, probes cloned cDNAs complementary to mRNA, respectively. Total RNA was extracted from sequences were quantified by Northern conditions ensuring efficiency specific radioactivity same probes. Similar carried out on calvaria with different synthesis after culture presence or absence ascorbic acid. results all samples analyzed indicate mRNAs ration maintained even during variations rate. There no evidence regulation mediated rates processing precursors, although preferential degradation gene transcript cannot be excluded. Thus, procollagen presumably coordinated transcriptional control.
