摘要: Borides, carbides and silicides are reviewed with special reference to newer production methods fabrication techniques. Crystal structures types of bonding in binary ternary compounds classified discussed. The scope limitations the Pauling-Rundle theory, molecular orbital treatment Ubbelohde-Samsonov theory examined critically appropriate experimental evidence is summarised. Information so far available on sintering borides, summarised relation their chemical reactivity. influenced by additives or impurities such as oxides formed partial hydrolysis oxidation. Resistance oxidation increased hot pressing refractories, but since affinity metals exclusively higher for oxygen, exchange reactions diminish quality materials. Boride carbide coatings generally have poor resistance air some more suitable. kinetics products studied depend mainly intrinsic reactivity material surface at which can occur.
