摘要: Summary Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is an RNA with 4 main genotypes. HEV-1 and HEV-2 infect solely humans, while HEV-3 HEV-4 humans various animals such as pigs, deer, rabbits. HEV-5 HEV-6 mainly wild boar. Recently, new genotypes, known HEV-7 HEV-8, were found to camels humans. HEV globally distributed into different epidemiological patterns based on socioeconomic factors ecology. Although transmitted through the fecal-oral route, it was also recognized a transfusion-transmitted virus. Transmission blood donation documented worldwide rising annual observations, accounting for more than 2.5% of all transmissions. infection usually asymptomatic or subclinical in immunocompetent individuals, so remains questionable whether there urgent need screen prior transfusion. Moreover, recent studies conducted Middle East North Africa (MENA) region indicate that highly endemic. Here, we provide review epidemiology, transmission, laboratory diagnosis, giving special emphasis newly discovered HEV-8. Furthermore, underscore findings seroprevalence viremia among donors worldwide. We shed light similar performed MENA region.
