摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the development of RAS1 -mediated photoreceptor in Drosophila . The Sevenless (SEV) signaling pathway induces neuronal differentiation a subset cells developing eye through common RAS-dependent signal transduction cascade known to regulate growth and all eukaryotic organisms. RAS proteins are small GTPases that cycle between active inactive states bound guanosine triphosphate (GTP) diphosphate (GDP), respectively. activation receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs), such as SEV, or other transmembrane receptors by ligand binding stimulates generation RAS-GTP, which transmits downstream effectors leading specific cellular responses. melanogaster contains three genes, Ras1 , Ras2 Rap1 (Ras3). is required for subtypes. adult highly reiterated structure composed approximately 800 identical units called ommatidia arranged perfect hexagonal array. Each ommatidium eight (R1–R8) 12 nonneuronal (4 lens-secreting cone 8 pigment cells).
