摘要: Background Erythrasma is a skin infection which caused by Corynebacterium minutissimum. Interdigital erythrasma the most common form. Objective The aim of this study was to detect frequency and risk factors interdigital in patients with clinically suspected tinea pedis. Methods This conducted between June December 2010 included 122 who had foot lesions. All were examined using Wood’s lamp. smears stained Gram’s method. Direct examination performed 20% potassium hydroxide. Sabouraud dextrose agar brain heart infusion used for cultures. Moreover, demographical characteristics patients, concomitant diseases clinical findings also recorded. Cases that found be positive on lamp and/or Gram staining/culture considered as erythrasma. Results rate 46.7%. mean age 43.6 years, disease more prevalent men. finding desquamation. Mycological 40.35% patients. No growth observed bacteriological It only or staining resulted 11 (9%) 19 (15.6%), respectively, whereas both concurrently 27 (22.1%). Conclusion commonly seen condition can mimic pedis. A good diagnostic tool, but staining, particularly those negative result, may useful
