摘要: Purpose Polymer-based textile meshes for abdominal hernia treatment are invisible by conventional imaging methods, including magnetic resonance (MRI). Integration of iron particles in the mesh base material allows MRI visualization meshes. Positive-contrast susceptibility (PCSI) was implemented to separate susceptibility-induced voids from proton-deficient voids. The purpose this study compare PCSI with gradient echo and turbo spin (TSE) sequences vivo assessment superparamagnetic oxide particle-loaded surgical an animal model. Methods materials Iron-loaded polymer were implanted into wall 10 rabbits. At days 1, 30, 90 after surgery, echo, TSE, performed at 1.5 T sagittal axial planes. Images scored 2 radiologists respect visibility, delineation surrounding tissue, differentiation other structures, overall diagnostic use, on a 4-point scale ranging 1 (insufficient) 4 (excellent). results compared using Wilcoxon signed-rank tests. shape, possible deformation or fracture, migration evaluated different pulse surgery autopsy. Results iron-loaded appeared as hypointense signal sequences, hyperintense line PCSI, very thin dark TSE images. In all animals, precise depiction location its spatial configuration integrity confirmed autopsy results. categories 3 time points imaging, image quality scores significantly higher (range, 3.60-3.80) 3.12-3.42) 1.64-1.89). day 90, ratings comparable. cases, complete borders impossible because adjacent anatomical whereas helped achieve differentiation. Conclusion rabbit model meshes, standard best suitable assess implant location, integrity, configuration. borders.
