摘要: Scorpion stings are common in many tropical countries. Although most scorpion cause only localized pain without life-threatening envenoming, about one third of systemic envenoming which can result death. Children particularly sensitive to envenoming. The severity is related the presence neurotoxins venom that a sudden release neurotransmitters from autonomic nervous system, predominantly sympathetic. There also strong inflammatory response worsens symptoms, including those respiratory nature. Several vital functions may be directly affected, cardiovascular, respiratory, and neuromuscular systems. Hypertension constant at beginning sometimes has severe cardiac impact. controversial, immunotherapy etiological treatment. Administered early, it prevents complications improves outcome. New antivenoms highly purified immunoglobulin fragments, efficacy safety excellent. As consequence, adverse reactions now very rare usually mild, should limit any reluctance regarding their routine use. Symptomatic treatment still necessary support immunotherapy, especially cases delayed arrival hospital. A combination both approaches considered, based on local resources constraints.
