摘要: Background Structural damage of the spine in ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is associated with worse physical function and impaired spinal mobility. Knowledge about predictors new syndesmophyte formation limited. Objectives To assess development syndesmophytes at level individual vertebral bodies to for this development. Methods Clinical radiological data from 132 patients Outcome Ankylosing Spondylitis International Study whom complete sets radiographs were available baseline 2- 4-year follow-up used. Univariable multivariable logistic regression analyses performed identify within 4 years. Results At baseline, 81 (61%) had syndesmophytes. New developed 44 (33%) 2 years 63 (48%) The RR developing was 5.0 (95% CI 2.5 10.2) existing as compared without. In univariable analysis, older age, functional status, male gender, erythrocyte sedimentation rate only presence a significant predictor (OR 18.72, 95% 6.44 54.42). When taken out model, age 1.07, 1.03 1.11) gender 3.98, 1.47 10.77) statistically contributors. Conclusion AS, are prone develop over time.
