摘要: Bacteriophage PRD1 contains a linear dsDNA genome enclosed by lipid membrane lying within protein coat. Determination of the structure detergent-treated particle to 2 nm cryo-electron microscopy and three-dimensional reconstruction has defined position major coat P3. The 240 copies trimeric P3 packed into positions local 6-fold symmetry on T = 25 lattice. structures virion DNA packaging mutant resolution 2.8 have revealed specific interactions between underlying membrane. is clearly visible as two leaflets separated spanned transmembrane density. size does not change upon packaging. Instead, number seen shell order components increase. Thus plays role in assembly which akin that played nucleocapsid other viruses.
