摘要: New techniques are available for diagnosing leishmaniasis, but their efficacy in the identification of pediatric visceral leishmaniasis (VL) has not been compared with that traditional methods. Blood, bone marrow, and urine samples were taken from 25 children VL during first clinical episode, 22 days after start treatment liposomal amphotericin B (3 mg/kg/day on 6 over a 10-day period), when relapse was suspected follow-up. The results obtained suggest antibody detection techniques, antigen (KAtex kit), Leishmania nested PCR (LnPCR) analysis blood could be used diagnosis episode. After treatment, improvement associated negativization Novy-MacNeal-Nicolle culture microscopy marrow aspirate, KAtex test, LnPCR results. Interestingly, aspirate showed sterile cure achieved eight patients, two which suffered within 10 to 20 weeks. All new noninvasive tested high diagnostic sensitivity. However, most sensitive; this test able detect persistence parasites predict potential relapses.
