摘要: Background: Because retinal and cerebral arterioles share similar pathologic processes, microvascular changes are expected to be markers of small vessel disease (SVD). To better understand the role SVD in cognitive function, we investigated relationship between abnormalities longitudinal function a community-based study. Methods: A total 803 participants underwent 4 assessments 1990–1992 2004–2006, using Word Fluency (WF) test, Digit Symbol Substitution (DSS), Delayed Recall as well photography 1993–1995. Covariate adjusted random effects linear models for repeated measures were used determine associations change with specific vascular abnormalities. Results: Individuals retinopathy showed declines executive psychomotor speed, 1) an average decline WF −1.64 words per decade (95% confidence interval [CI] −3.3, −0.02) compared no those without +0.06 CI −0.6, 0.8) 2) higher frequency rapid decliners on DSS test. Conclusion: Signs changes, microvasculature, associated adding growing evidence elderly.
