摘要: Purpose Keratoconus (KC) is thinning of the central cornea. Its etiology unknown, but it may result from degrading collagen type IV. The major protein in cornea collagen. Matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) able to degrade IV basement membrane and extracellular matrix (ECM). MMP-9 enzymatic activity inhibited by tissue inhibitor metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1). In present study, we sought investigate evaluate effects single nucleotide polymorphisms COL4A3, MMP-9, TIMP-1 on risk KC an Iranian population sample.
