Epidermophyton floccosum: nucleotide sequence analysis and antifungal susceptibility testing of 40 clinical isolates.

摘要: Purpose. Epidermophyton floccosum is an anthropophilic dermatophyte species, which one of the common causative agents dermatophytosis in different parts world. The aim present investigation was to evaluate genetic diversity E. strains isolated from Iran and define vitro susceptibility profiles seven antifungal drugs against these clinical isolates. Methodology. Forty 40 patients with were subjected DNA extraction PCR amplification ITS rDNA region using universal primers ITS1 ITS4. activities griseofulvin, itraconazole, voriconazole, posaconazole, caspofungin, ketoconazole terbinafine determined a broth microdilution method according CLSI-M-38A2 protocol. Results. A mean similarity 99.5 % found between strains, intraspecies differences ranging 0 3 nt. geometric (GM) MICs minimum effective concentrations (MECs) across all isolates were, increasing order, as follows: (GM=0.018 mg l−1), posaconazole (GM=0.022 itraconazole (GM=0.034 l−1) voriconazole (GM=0.045 had low tested whereas caspofungin (GM=0.22 (GM=0.41 griseofulvin (GM=0.62 demonstrated higher MICs. Conclusion. Our study showed variation within floccosum. Furthermore, terbinafine, shown be most potent strains.
