Reduction of tertiary amine N-oxides by liver preparations: Function of aldehyde oxidase as a major N-oxide reductase

摘要: Reduction of tertiary amine N-oxides to the corresponding amines by liver preparations was investigated with imipramine N-oxide and cyclobenzaprine under anaerobic conditions. Rabbit cytosol in presence an electron donor aldehyde oxidase exhibited a significant reductase activity which is comparable microsomes supplemented NADPH. also its donor, indicating that observed due this cytosolic enzyme. Furthermore, cytosols from rats, mice, hamsters hogs demonstrated comparison these mammalian species.
