摘要: Abstract The main objective of the present study was to evaluate effect folic acid pretreatment on parietal cortex Na + ,K -ATPase and serum butyrylcholinesterase activities in rats subjected acute hyperhomocysteinemia. Animals were pretreated daily with an intraperitoneal injection (5 mg/kg) or saline from 22th 28th day age. Twelve hours after last saline, received a single subcutaneous homocysteine (0.6 μmol/g weight body) killed 1 h later. Serum collected brain quickly removed dissected. Results showed that administration significantly decreased serum, respectively. Furthermore, totally prevented these inhibitory effects. We also evaluated some parameters oxidative stress, namely thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances total thiol content rats. No alteration observed homocysteinemic animals, indicating stress probably not responsible for reduction activities. presented results confirm previous findings hyperhomocysteinemia produces inhibition prevents such Assuming might reduce enzymes human beings, our support new potential therapeutic strategy based supplementation prevent neurological damage found
