摘要: Abstract Stevia rebaudiana (Bertoni), a perennial herb of the Asteraceae, is one most important sources non-caloric natural sweeteners. Stevia's plant extracts and glycosides have been used by indigenous cultures for centuries in Paraguay Brazil. Several studies suggest that its exert beneficial effects on human health, including anti-hyperglycemic antihypertensive properties ( Jeppesen et al., 2000 ). The objectives this study were to evaluate cold hardness Mississippi determine different harvest timing leaf production yield diterpene glycosides. Plants purchased from Ritchers Herbs source nodal explants vitro clonal propagation. Rooted plantlets adapted trays later transplanted field University Biological Field Station. Plant spacing was 30 cm between plants row 60 cm rows. Drip irrigation supplied water at rate ¼ ½ in. per week during summer. To protect winter 2010 plastic low tunnel used, while 2011 remained uncovered. Leaf biomass evaluated based three timings: (1) Three harvests 60 day intervals, two 90-day interval single after 180 days cultivation. Results revealed harvested once year yielded more than multiple (2 3 growing season). A total 13,896.37 kg hectare stem leaves harvest. productivity obtained harvest; rebaudioside (398.80 kg ha−1) stevioside (512.21 kg ha−1) also greater yields harvests).
