Absorbance Properties of Gold Coated Fiber Bragg Grating Sensor for Aqueous Ethanol

摘要: Optical Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) is commonly deployed as a wavelength selective filter in telecommunication well to detect physical changes such pressure, temperature and strain sensing applications. This paper presents an investigation of FBG chemical sensor towards ethanol aqueous solution. Telecommunication standard single mode FBGs were coated with different thicknesses thin gold films via sputtering deposition method. The combination gratings film enhances the evanescent wave on surface optical fiber. It was found that 50 nm layer exhibits strongest response water varying concentrations ethanol. shows 55% change absorbance levels when concentration increased from 0 99.7% water.
