摘要: Abstract The effect of electric pulses on tumour blood flow was investigated in the murine fibrosarcoma SA-1. After application short intense pulses, relative perfusion measured using an 86 RbCl extraction technique. A significant reduction (∼30% control) observed within 1 h following eight to tumour. Thereafter, slowly recovered, almost reaching pretreatment level by 24 h. No change induced untreated contralateral normal leg muscle. similar pattern when a second set applied 24 h interval. degree dependent upon number applied, at 1040 V, and less if than were applied. modification amplitude resulted changes direction response. Tumour increased range between 80 560 V decreased amplitudes higher 640 V. These results demonstrate that local solid tumours can modify flow. Pulses progressive with corresponding increase cytotoxicity as growth delay. could have potential exploiting modalities mediated hypoxia, e.g. activation bioreductive agents.
