摘要: Sex differences in macular pigment (MP) optical density (measured psychophysically) were examined. Concentrations of lutein and zeaxanthin (L Z) (non-separated) beta-carotene (BC) the blood determined using reverse phase high-performance liquid chromatography. Dietary intake L Z, BC, fat, iron estimated by questionnaire. Males had 38% higher MP than females (P < 0.001) despite similar plasma carotenoid concentrations dietary (except for fat). carotenoids, fat iron, as well Z positively related to males.
