摘要: Purpose of review Mathematical modeling tumorigenesis is a fast-growing area research. This describes recent (since July 2003) advances in this and discusses possible implications for the field cancer biology general. Recent findings Broadly speaking, there are three major areas which theory has contributed most to research: (1) context epidemiology other statistical data, (2) mechanistic avascular vascular tumor growth, (3) initiation progression as somatic evolution. The first uses models fit existing second approach takes advantage methods physics engineering describe third method looks at local, Darwinian Summary article new, interesting ideas put forward last year, suggests that make effort more relevant, better dialogue should be developed between theorists experimental biologists. author believes possible.
